I just put white IKEA LADDA in all my multimeters. They are Eneloop in disguise but almost 3 times cheaper. Leaking twice in a row in my U1272A, and ordering new back cover from Keysight was enough for me to swear not using alkalines ever again.

I don't keep my meters on when I don't use them, so a set of battery can last at least a year in my F289, so it's not worth it for me to use rechargeable batteries.

Interesting video.  My takeaway was that lithium cells have a lot more capacity than alkaline, but at a higher energy cost.

My results from a google of “do lithium batteries leak” indicated the answer to be “no”, so I’m never buying another alkaline battery again...

I’ve wasted so much money over the years on alkaline-leak damaged stuff, I figure I’ll come out ahead by buying lithiums instead.  Especially since my battery-powered electronic “toys” seem to get more and more expensive the older I get.

I can’t believe that I didn’t know that single-use AA lithiums were even a thing until now.

The  test this fellow conducted in the video appeared to be one of constant load or current draw over time but it seemed to ignore an inherent feature of the lithium batteries and that is their ability to recover after short bursts of high current draw, I don't think he took that factor into account.

I mentioned a while back where a Canon SX-100IS camera I was ready to throw in the bin was rated at 140 shots using alkalines but in reality would only take about 30 shots even with name brand batteries. By using the Energizer Lithiums in this now old camera they have given it a whole new life altogether.

That being said, the leak was still much smaller than what alkalines are capable of.

I mentioned a while back where a Canon SX-100IS camera I was ready to throw in the bin was rated at 140 shots using alkalines but in reality would only take about 30 shots even with name brand batteries. By using the Energizer Lithiums in this now old camera they have given it a whole new life altogether.

That's why it's usually recommended to use NiMH in cameras. Alkalines have significant ESR.

I've also switched to LADDA, low self discharge NiMH are superior to alcalines in every way.
Only problem I've had is that some crap devices need the slightly higher voltage that alcalines provide.

(btw, 'ladda' means 'charge' in Swedish, as in 'charge my phone')

Content maker says 0:11, that he uses a lot of AAs, but at 9:24, he says he would buy Energizer alkaline.  Huh?  He now has a nimh charger. 

Why buy throw away alkaline when Ikea nimh Laddas can repay themselves in 3 or 4 recharges?

suggested using nimh instead of alkalines.  Eneloops would have been available during the time the SX-100IS was around, but not well known for its lsd characteristics.

I had a Canon A80 around that time and used non lsd AA Energizers.  They easily gave me over 200 to 300 shots, but if I didn't charge them in 30 to 60 days, they went flat.

Now, I purposely use the Ikea Ladda lsd 1000mAh AA (x4) in my A80.  I don't take that many pictures so if I get 100 to 150 shots, I'm fine, but the 1000mAh are significantly lighter making the A80 easier to handle.

Yes, I know I'm a dinosaur for using the A80 when people just whip out their $1000 iphone or Samsung today.

PS. If I find a $10 CDN used Canon 2AA battery camera on my local kijiji, I'm going to buy it.
