Paracetamol works fantastic to reduce fever and feel much better. As a painkiller drinking water is just as effective as taking Paracetamol.

An ipbuprofen shortage has pre-existed ncovid-19 - there has been a worldwide shortage of the key ingredient for a few months now. You can easiy buy the very expensive branded products, but the cheap generic stuff has flown off the shelfs as soon as it came into stock.

The paracetamol shortage has arisen since India declared it was restriciting exports on 4th of March:

--- Quote ---The coronavirus outbreak has led India to restrict the export of dozens of drugs including paracetamol and various antibiotics, leading to fears of a global shortage of essential medicines.

No doubt that anouncement stimulated panic buying. I even bought a couple of packets myself.  >:D

So sorry everybody, but I will continue having some food in my household, and making my (our) own meals, like I always do. Due to the very real possibility of being 14 day in a quarantine, this includes bare minimum of 14 days of stock of ingredients for proper meals; realistically, a bit more than 14 days is a good margin. Call that panicking if you want; I call that the polar opposite of panicking.

If you will be for 14 days in quarantine, you will still be allowed to go out to get food, period. The same as going to a doctor or a pharmacy.

Ideally you shouldn't and you should get someone to bring it to you but even in countries like Slovakia and Italy that have actually implemented country-wide quarantines now and have police in the streets people are still allowed to get food. Quarantines are meant to prevent you from spreading germs, not to make you go hungry for two weeks.

Also, it is very likely that those country-wide quarantines will be much longer than the two week precautionary isolation. Then what? Are you going to stock up for a month, two, three? Because that is what we are realistically facing - the shutdown will last at least a month, possibly longer, before the epidemics gets anywhere near to starting to crest.

So yes, you are panicking.

That doesn't mean that you shouldn't have some basic supplies to last a few days at least because if you get the virus, you will likely be out of commission for a few days with fever. However, even from the basic healthcare point of view it is better to eat fresh food like vegetables and fruit to boost your immune system than dried pasta and canned foods. And those you certainly can't stock up for two or more weeks on.

It looks like we are heading to early spring this year. Growing supplies on your own backyard is another option for mitigating grocery shortages. In Soviet Union they used to rely on burdock leaves before importing their first toilet paper manufacturing line from UK in 1969.
