I'm need to get some custom labels made in that heavy duty plastic type of material.
Not sure what the material is called / trade name but they are maybe 1mm thick, stiff labels.
An example is the typical Peli case label:

Can anybody point me to a supplier?

A replacement for the late lamented Memtek?

Something lke the Lexan/polycarbonate type that is used on so many types of equipment?
Printed in reverse on the back side, then adhesive is applied. The front is usually finely textured. I'm sure there are many varieties and levels of quality.

What rdl said: look for lexan or polycarbonate decals. (Add “velvet” to the search term for the common textured kind.)
PVC labels, even the anti-scratch kind, are not what you’re looking for.

Yes, those are commonly referred to as Lexan labels. There are a wide range of material, printing methods, coatings, and adhesives that can be used depending on the application and the aesthetic requirements.
In the US, I've gotten those types of labels as well as LCD/membrane overlays from JN White (https://jnwhiteusa.com/) and would definitely recommend them.
I know they ship worldwide, but not sure if they have reps in the UK. When we were figuring out our labels and overlays their local rep brought in a huge binder of samples so we could see and feel the options, which was a huge help in finalizing our designs.

Ahha, thank you all, "Lexan labels with velvet finish" are exactly what I'm after.

Try Mockridge Labels in Manchester.

Instrument plastics are good for the more 'front panel'oriented kind of back printed lexan things, not sure about using them for labels however.
