Damaged components received
« on: March 10, 2024, 11:31:08 am »
Hi,
Some time ago , i  had contact with a company who wanted a 2kW PFC'd SMPS.
They werent prepared to pay me to do it.
But said if i could come up with a working prototype then they may consider this.
So i layed out a board, did the 2kW PFC first.
Used an interleaved PFC controller UCC28070 from ti.com.
I had to order the chips from mouser or digikey.
At first i ordered four, and one had a leg broken off and the other three
were ESD damaged.

Then i ordered in another two...and again, both were ESD damaged.......this was evident with me just
putting their Vcc supply on them.

I had also pre-ordered the ferrite cores for the LLC converter....but all these arrived with chunks smashed off them.

Due to the expense of the lab that i was hiring, i had to then give up at that point.

I wasnt ordering these chips as a "company" as such, just as an individual.
So maybe the "junior" staff were allowed to pick my order?...i dont know?

Either way, its a bad state of affairs if anything ordered which isnt "under a
genuine company name" doesnt arrive in good condition. Maybe they thought i might be a terrorist
or something?

Has any other "individual" experienced the same thing?, may i please ask.
