Ok I have a job to do Tuesday (is a $20 mates rate job) I have to set the temp of a friends cold display (food hall stall) she has had the health inspector complain that the temp in the middle of the salad is not 3c (it is not far off I am sure as I only serviced it last year (yeah sometime I work for food ;)) so I need a digital temp probe with decent accuracy... Hmmm well first stop it has to be Fluke, A standard process meter is not really that cheap.... So I look at hand held meters, So I start to narrow things down, and one JUMPS out at me.... The 87V... FINALLY an excuse to buy one ;) Actually I was going to buy the Agilent U1252A, but A it is not a Fluke ;) and B it is not good enough on Battery life ;) Plus the best price I can see is http://www.test-equipment-shop.com.au/products/Fluke_87V_True_RMS_Digital_Multimeter-29-0.html au$638 +GST (I was cheeky and asked if they do a student discount and next day post cost to Perth (and also if this is covered by the EEVBlog promo ;) Yeah I know very cheeky, but my method is if you do not ask you do not get. I also wanted to let them know I saw them on your site (I clicked the google add link, but the results were a JOKE lol MCA came up and they want au$839 +GST (assumed) (even RS and Farnell are cheaper lol)) So hopefully by Tuesday I will own an 87V (I am all excited.. in fact more excited than christmas and birthday ;) |

Hmmmm, should have checked Ebay before I posted lol :-[ http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FLUKE-87-V-5-TRUE-RMS-MULTIMETER-BRAND-NEW-RRP-770_W0QQitemZ330401691901QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_B_I_Electrical_Test_Equipment?hash=item4ced79b8fd They are in Perth so I can do a cash pick up :):) au$397 for a BRAND NEW 87V (I am shocked lol) |

And remember, even if it's all smashed up, as long as it's cheap, buy used. You can replace all of the cosmetics of any Fluke meter for cheap. My 87-V was originally $80 USD used at a pawn shop. |

Nice! Would have been cheaper to just get a temperature probe though, but not nearly as satisfying! ;D What is the spec of the Fluke 80BK probe anyway? I don't actually have one, as my 87V was not acquired new. Dave. |

Ok it is now in my hands (makes it hard to type) I did 3 things, I savoured the new equipment smell, I did not turn it on I took it apart ;) and I played with the continuity tester (man it is FAST!!!) I love the test lead alert :) it is a VERY nice bit of kit :) |
