datasheet weirdness: is it SR passives or Kingtronics?
« on: October 28, 2018, 07:56:59 am »
I was looking this datasheet: https://www.tme.eu/en/Document/8c1ff45156797735249e0c74a685b1eb/SR_PASSIVES-3305SMD.pdf . It doesn't contain parasitic capacitance of the trimpot, so I wanted to google it separately. Guess what happened when I tried to copy part number (3305SMD): I got "RKT-C3305", which is made by Kingtronics. When I googled it I got exact same datasheet, but different header: http://www.kingtronics.com/pdf/RKT-c3305.pdf . Turns out it's the same datasheet, just SRPassives put their logo and header on top of existing (see attached picture for exact location of hidden text).

Moreover, I can't really find any info about SRPassives. What looked like a proper vendor name is just a rebadge (they don't even have a website). That feels deceptive to me, even thought most (if not all) distributors do this ((in)famouse Farnell's multicomp, for example).

Don't know why I'm so surprised, but I decided to share my findings with you guys :)

Seem to me SRPassive is doing some dodgy business here...

Some months ago I got a confirmation e-mail from TME that we lowly customers are not entitled to learn about SR passive.

I'm not a feature, I'm a bug! ARC DG3HDA

Wow, interesting. So, you requested some information about a part and they said "no"?

Basically I asked TME to contact SR Passives to see their contact data and certificates and they said no.

It's probably just a "house brand".

Yeah, I think. I checked several products of SR Passives and they seemed unrelated.

SRpassives is TME in-house brand. The same as Multicomp of Farnell or RS Pro of RS components.
