I wonder how many domains (scam)sites like these are trigger-ready at to buy whenever some regristration expires.

And then resell it back to the original owner for a 5 or 6 figure sum.

You should trademark DaveCAD(TM) then you can sue them and get the domain for free. 

You can even sell hard copies of the software, it would just be a box with sticky notes and a pen.  You can then have a subscription model where you get ink refills once a year.

They probably have it automated in the milli second range because they have competitors as well.
I lost two domain names over the years to such vultures for not paying on time (Although I did pay on time).

And once in a while they are getting lucky by snitching someones important domain name and
literally selling it back for thousands.

DaveCAD.com would have been actually be a very nice doamin name for Dave!

Takes some bureaucracy at ICANN, but they should give you your domain back.

Our CTO played ball with some domain squatters who were out to screw us on a trademarked domain. He registered their own domain on another TLD and sent them an email saying we were going to put sex toys on it and pay for some ads. There was a heated discussion via email and then they agreed to swap it for zero fee.
