Dave's SMD Video last month !!
« on: July 04, 2020, 12:45:56 pm »

I had looked at various videos before the one above, as even 'thinking' about replacing
SMD parts seemed beyond my abilities!!  Why should I want to??  Because like everyone
else there are times when we need to change certain OpAmps with quality devices, so to
increase their functionality & accuracy. It used to scare me about SMD devices. Now I can
move on, and understand. Mind you, my failing eyesight does not help!!!   8)
Diagonal of 1x1 square = Root-2. Ok.
Diagonal of 1x1x1 cube = Root-3 !!!  Beautiful !!

P.S.   I'm impressed with the 'Drag' soldering technique... Never thought of that!!  :D
(Of course I'm talking about the many pinned IC's there...)
It seems, from other videos too, that the hardest part is holding the SMD in place. Others use a
simple weight with a springy arm, to press down & hold the component, without 'tacking' corners!   8)
And of course... plenty of FLUX !!   :-+
