DDR4 DIMM extender connector?
« on: May 20, 2022, 09:46:26 pm »
Hi,

I am looking at designing a board that has a DDR4 DIMM socket connected to the edge, similar to the DDR4 DIMM extenders on ebay. e.g https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354053750745  Picture attached.

I am struggling to find a suitable connector to fit. Most are designed to fit perpendicular to the board, rather than on the board edge.

I have ordered one of the ebay boards to have a look at, but it could take weeks to get here, and may not have any manufacturer or part number on the connector.

Perhaps these extenders somehow bodge a through hole perpendicular connector for the job, although all the connectors I have found so far have 4 rows of pins so could not be used like that.

I could buy a few of the ebay boards and try to remove the connector to re-use it, but would prefer not to.

Anyone got any idea?

Many Thanks, Ken
