De Lorean

Look what I came across parked on Beverly Glen just south of Santa Monica in Los Angeles this morning.  Lighting and reflections made it hard to shoot inside the vehicle, but that's a genuine flux capacitor between the seats.

Drives like shit. But I love the (iconic) looks!

Just love the 80s. IMO your lucky if your teenaged round those years. [emoji41][emoji322]

Great scott!

It would be cool to have a Delorean and convert it to a time machine, but I feel it's probably over done now days.   Still would do it if I had the money though.  There is actually a company somewhere in the states that builds them from the original parts and new parts.

I love Delorean for what it is and it pains me sometimes to see these beautiful cars just made into another BTTF replica.

If I came into a lot of money I would seriously buy (or commission a build of) a time machine delorean.
I argue that no other car one the road would turn more heads or pull a bigger crowd.

I've seen a few, they do draw a crowd, but things like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Outspan orange, or even an Aventador in matt black with a driver in a batman outfit attract more people.

Unfortunately saddled with a lousy engine. That "Euro V6" (a chopped-off V8) doesn't get any worse.

Simple solution, cough up extra money and buy VIN502 which was a factory twin turbo car.

Which was a factory prototype. Hint: VIN #502.

And even with turbos, it's a lousy engine. Unbalanced and rough.

Yep, the engine is far from exciting, mine ran fine for the 9 years I owned my DeLorean though, so I have no complaints.

Here in Toronto I've seen this car pass me by... It's the Toronto Bat-Mobile:

https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/brampton-batman-gets-pulled-over-by-opp-cop-for-a-selfie

And yes, that link above is about a COP who pulled it over to take photos and also escort the car with lights because it was distracting too many people and they were worried about accidents.

Now that attracts a lot of attention! I would say that this is so custom I doubt any more of these exist and may be an order of magnitude harder to build. Although the DeLorean time machine attention to detail is mind-boggling. I still think the DeLorean may grab more looks due to the movie popularity, but the Batman genre is fairly popular too, and in the right age group may draw more eyeballs. I wonder which would win in a drag race?  :-DD

A stock DeLorean is actually not all that expensive in comparison to other exotic cars; apparently you can still buy them new: https://www.delorean.com/faq.htm

Easy to swap in a V8...

Dave, no need to spend big money.  Start with a single person version. Make Sir Clive proud.
