DealExtreme having major shipping problems ?
« on: November 22, 2014, 05:36:26 pm »
Hi, I ordered a multimeter on DX over a month ago. They took payment from my CC. After that ... nothing....

I reminded them and got a tracking number. That didnt work. Two weeks later, still no luck.

Then I contacted them again and they said my package "had been stopped in HK security check due to lithium batteries" etc. Then nothing for several weeks.

I contacted them again (now not so happy anymore). Then I got another tracking #. This also non working. After several reminders ... and more weeks ... nothing. Tracking still no good.

Now I sent an e-mail that unless they refunded me I would have to contact my cc issuer and report them and demand a refund from the cc company. Still nothing. Then I reminded two times. Then suddenly a THIRD tracking number was sent. This time the package was delivered in Netherlands.

What is going on with DX at the moment? Do they have serious problems? Anyone that can shed light on this? I have seen many postings online about similar experiences.

That was almost a year ago.  You would think they would know the drill by now. :palm:

Worst case, you get a flesh burn.
Worst case of Li cells going up in a cargo airliner's hold, not so trivial. You can see why carriers are grumpy about them and regulations exist.

Many Chinese companies ship by way of dutch post (UPS). My shipping time from DX is typically 4-6 weeks to Canada. Of course this is the Xmas rush as well.

Most vendors ship until caught, then they are flagged and checked (if time permits). China post carries on passenger airliners so after MH-370 the rules where actually enforced.

DX  huh

i dont want to ever hear those two letters again
Deals Extreme,  what a Fucking Joke of a company

Let me shed some light on this mate if i may

i have also been burned and still no delivery

i ordered and item,  a type of rubiks cube, called a Dayan Zhachi (not really important to the story, just saying)
wasn't expensive, but thats not the point

i was initially told  5 days for delivery

2 weeks past and then i was told it would be 30 days
then that past then i was told it would be longer and longer and the shit goes on

during this time

i put in 7 support tickets
1 was answered and it said something like
we are so sorry that you have had an upleasant experience,

and that was it,
no solution no nothing, didn't even address my issue
i replied,  they never replied

i tried calling their phone number
it never answers

i've tried the chat line
that's your best bet

HOWEVER, SOME THINGS TO BE AWARE OF

the time that it states that the chat is OPEN is bullshit,
now, i know the time is in Hong Kong Local time,  but.. even so
they still don't answer in their own operating hours

it's basically luck if you get through

Now.. Let's say you do get through
Unless you are super super polite to them for stuffing you around

which your not going to be and neither was i

they will do the following

hang up on you  (that's when you realise you can't re connect again)
or
they'll call you a  "bully"    seriously, what adult uses this word anymore toward another adult,  but.. they do
then they hang up on you

you ask them when's package going to arrive

they'll usually just copy and paste some crap as if they are answering your question

if you ask the question again
they'll say

i've already answered it
if you say
no you haven't

they'll say
we are going in circles
and THEY'LL HANG UP

My weirdest part was when operator said this to me

NO KIDDING

Sir how can i help you,

i explained my problem and frustration

she then said

NOT TO WORRY I'M HERE TO PLEASURE YOU AND SATISFY YOUR NEEDS    (I'm not fucking kidding, word for word without exaggeration)

i was like
WTF

i said to here,  what do mean , your here to pleasure me, i have a wife, what are you talking about
she said

sir we are here to give you pleasure

this went on for a while

several chat sessions later
i realize they can't actually speak english

EVEN IF YOU ASK THEM,   Can you speak english fluently

they will bullshit to you and say that they can,
but then you see their grammar is hopeless

Now after all that crap
i finally get onto a supervisor

i explain that the status of my order is      FULLY SHIPPED

which to any normal person means
DELIVERED

according to DX it means IN TRANSIT.................... ok.. psycho

anyway

i came to an agreement
the supervisor said to me that if the package was not delivered to me by last week    i forgot the date

i would get a free re shipment

i have emailed here twice
she gave me her direct email address

she has not responded yet, not sure why

i personally am never doing business with that company ever again
they are so fucking stupid it's not funny

when i asked them, where is the package
they said they don't know

so i said
so it's missing or lost

they said ,it's on it's way

i said,
the status is fully shipped and it's been 3 months
it's obviously lost

they said

Please be patient and wait

i said
for how long

they said
we don't know

i said
well, are you able to contact the courier company to find out , at the least if it's still in transit
they said   No, we don't who the courier company is

i have no words to describe the stupidity of this company
i admit i have made a huge mistake dealing with them

it's my first time dealing with them

NEVER EVER AGAIN

once my package is delivered or money refunded
i am steering clear of these guys

they don't even speak english

that's half the problem right there

they see waay to sensitive and seem to take every single complaint as a sign of personal disrespect
they ignore you

they are just rude all around and they don't deliver what you paid for.

if you don't have much luck mate,
and if i do

how about i pass you the email address of the lady that i'm dealing with

she is nice,   AT LEAST WHEN I GET INTO CONTACT WITH HERE
but.. if that happens,   she is the best that i've dealt with

Note, i didn't say, she's good
i said the best oout of all the crap that i've dealt with

it's your best shot

let me know
QUESTION EVERYTHING!!!

I have not yet received an order I did about 2 months ago. Couldn't be bothered to deal with customer support, so just ordered it again, except now via the EU Direct site. I received the same stuff in 2 weeks.

I have probably made dozens of orders and up until now they never failed to deliver. I just consider not receiving an order a calculated risk.

Dealextreme is practically begging for customs to fuck around with their packages ... screwing with the declared value on request is one thing, just outright saying on your website that you're always going to do it is a bit too brazen.

I would rather they declare the value and let me prepay tax like ebay does.

i was using EU direct DX , but not using anymore. they delivered within 2 weeks no problem, not a single delivery was missing.. but the problem was that some items were "out of stock" despite the fact that during the ordering those were available. and actually it pissed me off that a order placed just because of one particular item arrived without that item (they refunded it, so no real loss on my side).

Hmmmmmmmm........

it sounds like Deal Extreme is not a very reliable company. Many people are having major issues with delays and a "customer service" that uses copy and paste phrases which means nothing it seems. The same as one of the above posters describe happened to me. "Dear customer ... blah blah blah", "we are sorry ... blahh blah blah", "please give it some weeks for the tracking number to work" (WTF?) ... blah blah

I will never be ordering anything mildly expensive from those guys again.

DX dropships, so shipping time depends on the outfit sending that particular product. Up to 3 months is typical. You get what you pay for...

it sounds like Deal Extreme is not a very reliable company.

Just make sure you have tracking included by buying for $15 or more, butt less than the amount the customs would deem worthy enough to ask for duties.
Even if tracking is not included you will eventually get your money back. (just takes longer)

The chat is pretty much a PITA, but they are able to guide you trough the system.
The ticket system works reliable. Answers will be given mostly within 48 hours.

My advice:
 - Ask short questions.
 - Make short statements.
 - Short and simple sentences works best.

Examples:
 - Have not received order xxxxxxxxx. Checked with neighbors and local postoffice. When wil DX declare order "lost in mail"?
 - Reimburse please.
 - Reship please.

It is likely this:
http://dangerousprototypes.com/2014/10/14/dirty-tuesday-chinese-shipping-apocalypse/

Basically long delays because the Chinese government has started to inspect every single outgoing package as a part of the corruption crackdown. So enormous delays. Add the upcoming holidays to the mix (goods are shipped long in advance!) and boom, two months shipping time is not that unheard of. Most of my orders from AliExpress are coming in about a month, 6 weeks now - it used to be 3 weeks.

If you had lithium batteries in the meter and the shipment was stopped because of that, that could easily add up weeks of confusion and delay while the mess is sorted out to the shipping time. That's simply the way it is there.

Of course, DealXtreme's customer service is horrendous, but that is a different matter. You need to realize that the "western" standards don't apply in the far East, 99% of people don't speak English (or any other foreign language), so copy & pasted replies and nonsensical answers are often the best you can hope for - at least they are talking to you! The clerk likely has no clue what you are asking them about so they essentially toss a coin, pick a caned reply and hope that you will go away. If you wrote in Mandarin instead, I am sure you would get a better answer. This is not an excuse for a poor customer service, but I think it explains what you have experienced.

Basically, if you are shopping at places like AliExpress or DealXtreme, do so only with money you can afford to lose.

BTW, buying a multimeter on DX? You will likely find the same piece of junk at your local hardware store or eBay ...

You should have taken the pleasure option and given it as a gift to someone else.

2 different issues:

1.  DX is just listing site for a lot of drop shippers.  Same goods, fake or new, are sold at different price by the Chinese manufacturers as they know the quality of their batch and QC.  My feelings are DX got the worst of the bottom ;evel as these drop-shippers are not technical people and do not give a damm to quality, just their margin.  SOme are buying rejects from the factories and reselling as good and new.  Now I buy directly from Taobao at much cheaper price.  I was prepared to get cheated for a few rounds, and figured that it would still be worthwhile.  Surprisingly, all transactions had been OK, and no issue with the quality.  Only problem is it is a diffeent eco system, and you shall need to communicate in Chinese to get the benefits, and many time you need to communicate many times over for a simple purchase.

2.  The Chinese custom is 1/2 or 1/3 the speed it used to be.  Lithium battery in the meter is likely not the issue, but lithium battery by itself is unlikely to be allowed to go onto the plane.  There were cases that lithium batteries caught fire on Chinese internal flights, luckily there was no causualty.  The main reason of Custom tightening check was there was load of fake US dollars stopped at HK custom, and they were exported from the mainland.  So Chinese custom is stopping all fake to be exported if they can identify them.  Unlikely they can tell the electronics fake, but they likely can stop Rolex, Italian leather, handbags, and other consumerable goods.

1 LED shipped on 12.12.2015. and still I did not received it.

Support just tells me to wait patiently and not to worry.

On eBay there is at least the estimated delivery date. Here, nothing...

DX has always been slow in shipping. 99% of the time you can get the exact same item for cheaper and much faster from eBay.

This one, I have only found on DX. Well, there was also on eBay, but at higher price (as I remember), and I tought that DX is a real store, so they will sell genuine CREE LEDs. I was counting that if I buy it on eBay, that I will receive either a factory reject or a counterfeit.
