Title: Diaper-wearing solder stop
Post by: babysitter on March 17, 2013, 12:12:10 am
I wonder if there are other people here who are distracted or otherwise kept off from soldering by little diaper-wearing tiny ones...
Introducing Miss BC857 using EZGPIB and a HP3456A!

Actually, I stopped soldering right in the pregnancy in our appartment due to health concerns regarding BC857, now I am looking for a hobby lab somewhere else.

How do you put together kids and electronics labs ?

The problem is children at that age have a true physiological need to stick dirt in their mouths and taste everything, so you have dual challenge, remove the dangerous industrial chemical stoff but also to provide "clean" dirt so they can be inoculated with a healthy mix of gut bacteria (and nematode parasites!). I am a child of german immigrants and the last time I was in Germany was around 1977. I don't think even then it was easy to find such places to safely play in the dirt, for urban Germans anyway. Good luck.

PS. for apartment dwellers the safest option is to have the hobby space in another building entirely :-\

I meticulously pack my components and tools in plastic tubs and keep em above the kitchen cabinets, and do soldering on my balcony.
