Did Australia invent the Circular Case Electronics Resistance Substitution Wheel
(1/1)
jonovid:
Resistance Wheel or one knob resistance box, a basic tool for most beginners in electronics was first sold by Dick Smith Electronics in the 1980s now it is sold by jaycar
as far as I know. the one knob circular case resistance substitution wheel is an Australian invention. :-\
A look inside a dial based resistance substitution box.
tom66:
Hasn't DSE been mostly an import business since it was founded? It seems an odd thing to engineer - likelihood is it was being sold by a Chinese or Hong Kong-based manufacturer and they bought them in and successfully marketed them.
jonovid:
I have not seen this circular case design sold outside Australia until recently also has no brand or trademark on the case.
CatalinaWOW:
I've never seen one of those here in the US, but it looks like a convenient and useful form factor for that application. Glad someone invented it.
Brumby:
I've got one of those .... somewhere. ::)
