digikey customer service ROCKS!

wow, they saved me on a mistake I just made...

I placed a digikey order and usually I take USPS priority shipping, which is 3 day and usually $10 or less for my typical orders.  for some reason, I must have clicked the 'faster' version of priority and not realized it.

when I got the email invoice, I was shocked to see a $40 shipping charge.  oh no, that's way too much for what I can justify paying and I didn't need things THAT fast.  clearly, a mistake on my part.

I called digikey, explained it to them and they said they would credit me back the difference and it would not be a problem.

now THAT is customer service!

good job, digikey.  it was not your fault but you helped me out anyway.

They swapped an incorrect component on my order for free and let me override the manufacturer's shipping recommendation so I could save $50, over the phone. They're pretty great.

Some CS's are awful, remember the Zavvi scam?
The funniest thing about this signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything its too late to stop reading it.

I have placed orders from Digi-key over my lunch break, and had the box in my hands the next morning. These were just small (~$100) orders shipped with the $8 shipping option. Everything is always well- (over-) packaged with ESD and, when necessary, humidity protection. They are definitely my first choice.

Yep. They are one of the best. I have never had any problems ordering from Digi-Key
I'm not saying we should kill all stupid people. I'm just saying that we should remove all product safety labels and let natural selection do its work.

I've seen a pattern with suppliers of really large volume stuff.  At some point they realize that it's cheaper and better for their reputation to simply let the customer be right.
