Digikey - Searching only for components which have 3d models
« on: April 03, 2015, 02:55:16 pm »
Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to show only components with 3d models on Digikey?
Thanks

I didn't even know Digi-Key had 3D models. I thought it's the manufacturer that would provide any such info.

I looked and I can't see any 3D info. Even Jenny in the Live Chat couldn't find me any.

Did you find any? I'd love to see that myself.

Didn't know that either. Would be interesting to see if the models would fit into popular Cad/layout packages.

Look at most d-sub connectors from norcomp http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/171-009-103L001/209ME-ND/858099 they have step/igs files to download. Obviously this isnt much of a concern for IC/passive manufacturers, but it helps a lot for connectors, switches, etc.

This script offers it as a feature, plus many other enhancements:

Thanks a lot nerdyHippy. This makes life a lot easier :)
It's nice Digikey added STEP models on quite a few parts but it's plain stupid not adding a filter checkbox.

When protel 2004 (altium) was first introduced, they digitized all of the parts in digikey's database (then), in a separate download.
