Thermostat cold warm in out
« on: December 27, 2018, 05:42:49 pm »
Can someone please explain to me, what are warm in , warm out  and cold out temperatures in specification for fridge thermostat.

Specifically Ranco k60p1134 and Ranco k60p1013. I bought the latter one as a replacement.

The temperature numbers show when the fridge compressor switches on and off. The temperature dial has a range as well (warm, cold) and there is another value for defrost mode, a warming heater is controlled.

Ranco Varifix VP4 K60P1013, 1 door refrigerator, push-button manual defrost, 1.2m capilliary, 1/4" fastons
Dial set to warmest:
Warm cut-out -10ºC
Warm cut-in -4°C

Dial set to coolest:
Cold cut-in -19°C
Cold cut-out -25ºC

Said another way:
Dial range -25ºC to -10ºC (cut-out) with differential of 6ºC.

I can't find data on the K60P1134, it would have different temperature range.
It's too bad manufacturers don't put a R-C snubber across the thermostat contacts to lessen arcing and extend the lifetime. I had to do this on an old fridge that ate thermostats.

FYI, most mechanical refrigeration thermostats can be "calibrated" by turning an adjustment screw.
