Dilbert gone from 77 newspapers
« on: November 22, 2022, 07:45:10 pm »
I haven't seen Dilbert for a few days and found this: https://nypost.com/2022/09/21/dilbert-author-claims-comic-was-removed-from-77-newspapers/
Also Dilbert.com seems to have gone also.

Here's what I see at Dilbert.com:

We are updating the site for you and will be back shortly. In the meantime, how about laughing at a comic or two on our sister site?

There was a cyber attack on the hosting company used for dilbert.com.

Oh, i noticed on Sunday or Saturday that the domain was not reachable.
Dilbert is, as much as i do not really like what i know of the stance of Scott Adams, one of the few Webcomics that i regularly follow.
Sometimes i shrug and leave for a couple of days when the politics are too apparent, but that has from my non-American viewpoint gotten rarer.

I was wondering what was going on.

The domain is now back up, but the page claims i have reached the end.

Feecking woketards.
Not fan of the bullies, but man, they're a cancer.
If you don't like it, don't watch/listen to it, just move away carrying your "real-beauty-standard" XXXL ass  :-//

Jeesh, angry much? The NYPost article is from July, so has nothing to do with the downtime.

Anyway, dilbert.com is back now, at least for me.

Dilbert got old a long time ago,  I think there's a limit to the parody of a workplace environment.  Especially post-Covid when so much office bullshit goes away because many people aren't in 5 days a week any more.

That, and newspapers are getting outdated too, with fewer and fewer print copies sold every year.  It's a dying industry and they're probably looking at cutting things that don't impact readership too much, rather than trying to appeal to some imagined "pro-woke reader" (who I doubt would read the newspaper anyway; they tend to be sold more to older, more conservative readers in any case.)

I enjoy the comic and don't find it old- the happenings in it are unfortunately unchanged as far as engineering goes. Pointy haired boss types do need to be punted off the ladder.

Wokes are ruining humour everywhere.
Thankfully Dave Chapelle survived the Woke Wars from 2020.
It's like doing parody mixing Scotts/Irish/British people in the same room, never gets old.
There's nothing wrong with that, it's the same in any other country and their northern/southern accents, buuuut if it's someone talking a non-native language, it's not funny anymore, now it's racism/racial stereotypes/hate blah blah.
Dilbert became "boomer humour" long time ago, for sure there's a whole generation still enjoying it, if it ends, let it be because nobody's interesed anymore, not because some peasants are complaining.
Nowadays "funny" means mostly loud noises and yelling for no reason, I guess it's the only way, just SCREAM without saying any words so nobody can get offended  :-DD

dns01.uclick.com seems to have gone offline for a few days, so everything hosted by that was unavailable.  That included Dilbert, The Far Side and all of gocomics.com among who knows what else.  People who read funnies as part of their daily routine were getting seriously stressed out.

There's some speculation that it was a ransomware attack, but I haven't seen any details so far.

Geez, go read some funnies and chill out  :-DD
