That is not true. Whenever (mostly) someone new showed up and introduced himself he got a nice welcome there.
I'd never the impression, that somebody wouldn't be welcome to TEA.

Some examples:

--- Code: ---https://www.google.com/search?q=mnemnth+aardvak+neverending+taco+site%3Awww.eevblog.com%2Fforum%2Ftestgear%2Ftest-equipment-anonymous-%28tea%29-group-therapy-thread
--- End code ---

--- End quote ---
I've only posted sporadically because both my workshop and my knowledge is very limited but everytime I've been warmly welcomed, treated with all respect and been helped extensively.

It was an amazing community that very easily accepted and helped new members like myself.

'Kind of' over-the-top vitriol for definitely over-the-top moderating. That said, is there anything that wasn't totally over-the-top in a mess which led to this SNAFU of epic proportions, while, as we've just learnt from Dave, Murphy was having a field day?

A plot twist nobody saw coming. I can understand how it happens tho.

And it would defeat the entire prupose of forums, which is to provide thread for different questions and topics.

--- End quote ---

And that is why there is a beginners forum.  Dave, you do a solid job with the EEVBlog.  I have been around almost 9 years and I will say that I have narrowed down what I like and look at what I like.  I have enjoyed almost all of the OT stuff and have even added to the noise floor.  Keep doing what you are doing, after all it is your gig.  I just recently became a supporter and I do apologize for not doing it sooner.  most of my surf time is here.

--- End quote ---

Possible. Who thinks that's a good idea?
Maybe it's better to have a Sticky "Ask your general test equipment question here" thread? Although the whole idea of a forum is to have different threads for specific questions, so that's kinda counter to that.

--- End quote ---
Well, it always used to be just another thread under the Test Equipment banner and to my knowledge since the decision was made by someone to make it a sticky and also to make it the number 1 sticky the problems started piling in. Perhaps this is in fact a direct result of that decision as it will have lead to so much more traffic in the thread, and maybe (bearing in mind I don't know the metrics), a lot of the complaints were coming from people who might well have been making their first trip to the thread and not liked the OT and raised it to the admin team?

I suppose the decision to make it a sticky was purely taken because of the amount of traffic it generated, i.e. ranked in the order of traffic generated?

Now if that theory is true, then it is really an own goal by the admin team, regardless of rank and therefore, if that decision had not been made, possibly this whole regrettable situation would not now be happening  :-//
