Sony Smartwatch

Joining the I'm Watch and the Motorola MOTOACTV, Sony is adding the Smartwatch to its range of accessories set to play nice with its Xperia smartphones. The timepiece which hosts a 1.3-inch OLED display can connect to your Android smartphone displaying texts and tweets. It also doubles as a Media Player streaming the audio from your phone to the device and then to your earholes via headphones. Sony also confirmed that you'll be able to enhance the Smartwatch further through downloadable apps which will increase its functionality.

Price: £100

Due: Early 2012

It looks like my Casio CFX-200 may have a companion!

ehh... not really my style....

as for new watches, this one caught my eye. a little blingy for my taste, but as a fan of flip dot displays, the technology is spot on.

I've a Sony Ericsson MBW-150 that displays all the notifications from my phone including texts and calls on a small oled screen on the watch.

it doesn't display the seconds by default.  still might be annoying if its really that loud...

i don't mind a little noise from some devices.... my bulova astronaut is annoying loud if you leave it in the right spot on a wood piece of furniture. bzzzz! otherwise, i enjoy the hum of the tuning fork.

i like my old g-shock with the 30min annunciate. subtle, yet functional.

If I were designing something (commercially), I think I would be trying to use Memory LCD or electronic paper as used in Kindles etc. It is nice to see watches back in the minds of designers though.

If it follows my experience with Sony gadgets, it will:
Have horrible software
Be saddled with ridiculous DRM
Be unsupported in 6 months
