This isn't a covid problem, it has always been this way with my local DHL.

Somehow, DHL international manages to get PCBs picked up at JLCPCB and brought to my local distribution center in less than two days, making the 8000 miles at an average speed of 197 miles per hour (including customs).  Once at the local distribution center, the last 20 miles often takes another week which is an average rate of 3 miles per day.  Sometimes at the end of that week they just take it to USPS who delivers it the next day.

Is this just my local distribution center or is this a widespread DHL problem in the US since they are such a minor carrier?  Unfortunately JLCPCB dropped UPS a few months ago so now DHL is the only option.

I always get jlcpcb packages delivered by my local DHL driver the same day it arrives at the local office, even when the estimation is for additional 2-3 days. I setup signature waiver as soon as i receive the first notification from DHL

I have a signature waiver on file and when they eventually do come up there they just leave it on the porch like everyone else.  I think they just only come to my town once a week or when they have a full load.

My last order left JLCPCB on May 18th, arrived in Germany the 22nd and stay there one week around Cologne, Dusseldorf and Krefeld  (75km in 6 days). Then the parcel was passed to La Poste (France) and is still not delivered, expected (I hope) Monday the 8th of June. I payed for a 5-10 days shipping and at the end it will rather be 20 days...

I get a lot of PCBs from JLC, it never fails, 3 days with DHL. If shipped wednesday evening local china-time, I get them friday around noon. If shipped friday afternoon/evening, I get them monday around noon. Works perfect every time. Worst case (during Corana), it took 7 days, but thats long gone now.

I typcally get my boards from China in 2-3 days via DHL. 3 days if it includes a Sunday. Otherwise, it's usually 2 days. The yellow van comes and drops the package at the same time, between 10:30 and 11 AM.

I've lived in places where I couldn't get a package from UPS to save my life. I've also had issues with DHL in the past. Local issues, yes, they exist.

Possibly during the pandemic they are short staffed or with social distancing in the warehouse can't manage as many packages per day.

Amazon got really bad around here around the peak lockdown - 14-20 days on some items that are now next day.

Hmmm, Lately, I've gotten a few boards from PCBway to Missouri.  It seems pretty fast.  Always delivered by a DHL courier, as far as I know, not USPS.
It seems to take 4-5 days to get from Shenzhen to my house.

Dear sir, Rebecca from JLCPCB.Your case is not common, I think it happened just in those unstable days.I ask the co-worker who charges the shipping tasks, she said so. I really appreciate your sharing. Thanks.

Thanks for looking at this, but this is in no way caused by JLCPCB and is not the result of Covid19.  JLCPCB manufactured and shipped the boards on time, it is the local distribution center of DHL alone that is messing up the delivery.

However, the way that JLCPCB could help would to bring back the SF Express or whatever you called the delivery service that used UPS.  UPS is much more efficient and reliable than DHL where I live.
thanks

We will have Fedex service soon, no later than this month, do you think that will help?

thanks for the update.  FedEx works OK but for our location UPS seems to be a better choice.  DHL finally delivered and their main office confirmed that they have limited service to our area even though we next to a major metropolitan area that serves itself and neighboring state.  That is why it often takes a week to get an item the last 20 miles.  So FedEx or UPS are both better choices.  Thank you again.

My pleasure to assist you, and I delivered your idea to my co-worker which you guys prefer  UPS

They replied that many Northern American clients prefer UPS, but some said it's a little bit expensive.
They will consider providing UPS service, possibly after FedEx service. :D

JLCPCB used to offer UPS delivery as recently as this spring, it was listed as something like "SF Express" and it was lower cost than DHL.  The quickest delivery I ever received was early this year with UPS and it arrived 3-days after being shipped.

I just ordered some PCBs from Seeed. Seeed told me it shipped on June 13. DHL sent me their notification on the 15th, with an estimated delivery date of Monday, June 22. The package hit my desk yesterday.

SF express from China to US is a thing, but it recently got a lot more ex🅱️ensive, something to do with flights. UPS also got a lot more ex🅱️ensive, I think it went from 120cny to 180cny ($17 to $26) which is almost a $10 increase. JLC probably has old contracts with DHL and are still getting the old prices.
