Does anyone else pronounce "Soldering" as "Saudering"?
XOIIO:
Hey all something I noticed when watching tech videos on youtube is that people most often pronounce solder/soldering as it is spelt, with the l in the word, which was interesting to me. I started out pronouncing it saudering, and when I audited a college class in grade 8 for electronics fabrication, the instructor also pronounced it saudering (or he must have, because I would have changed over if he had pronounced it soldering).
Just wondering if it's one of those things people pronounce differently based on where they lived, or if pronouncing it that way is a big faux pas. To me pronouncing it as Saudering Iron is much more esthetically pleasing than Souldering Iron or Soldering Iron.

I've always pronounced solder as in sold. I think that's standard here in the UK. I think what you're hearing on YouTube is the US pronunciation (as in sod). I find it very odd. Much like most of what Americans have done to our language. ;)

Yeah, in Canada myself, UK/Australian youtubers pronounce it soldering/souldering more noticeably.

The L is silent in the US.
