I vaguely remember Dave making a video that mentioned anisotropically conductive foam used to test bga ics. Does anyone remember what video this was from? Ive been trying to find out more about this sort of foam and if its even still commercially available. I just about was able to find the name of this unidirectional phenomenon. |

I don't know if there's a foam with this property, but anisotropically conductive tape is readily available: It basically consists of regular tape with a lot of embedded metal "blobs"-> The metal makes contact in the Z direction while not shorting out the pins next to it. It's sold by 3M as Z-Axis electrically conductive double sided tape, but it's expensive af. |

Wasn't that more of a "jelly" material? I remember that being featured and explained in a teardown of an old programmer. There it was used to adapt to various chips. I think it was this video: |

I think Dave has mentioned "ZEBRA strips" in several videos: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elastomeric_connector A more general term would probably be elastomer contactor. |
