Title: Does Han Solo call a capacitor a ca-pack-itor ????
Post by: lordvader88 on October 03, 2017, 07:36:20 pm
In SW 7 on the planet of the old 'lady', I think

Sounded to me like he was went to say capacitor but no one told him how its pronunced and says it wrong? Or did I hear it wrong. For all I know he knows electronics and it wasn't call a capacitor

Anyone know what scene I'm wondering about ? He's standing outside the ship doing something, maybe on a little console.

From The Force Awakens script:

"Chewie, check that donal capitator."

Given that the guy was a kitchen installer before he became an actor I think that he can be forgiven for the error.

Just because we haven't heard of a "donal capitator" doesn't mean Hans Solo was wrong in what he said.  It is simply a case of our ignorance....

.... and the creative efforts of the writers putting together a sci-fi lexicon.

"donal capitator"

that was it was it, ok

Thats much better than no one on set or in editing/etc...catching it ?????????  However is that the word in the script??? Now I want the script

For me, this movie was just too much of a SW4 blender version or something. And Rey better have tons of previous Force training, otherwise I should try out for the NHL, Special Forces, or CalTech....and win awards

Ignorance of some, I, on the other hand, am all over it >:D

Isn't a capitator the opposite of a decapitator?

He flies planes in real life, so he probably has heard the name over the years.

But did some dummy write it wrong on his daily script ?

Send me hamburgers right now and I will try and solve this as I eat the hamburgers.

The writers invented a word and the actor spoke it as he was paid to do. Other than having a few letters in common, capacitors were not involved in any way.

Could it be because Harrison Ford is an actor and carpenter and not an electronics nerd/hobbyist/engineer and if anyone on the production team knew the correct pronunciation, they couldn't be bothered to correct him and re-shoot the scene?  ;) :-//

Don't mind me ... I'm only jealous I didn't think of it first.
