The personal license for Simulink is reasonable and I have had it for a three or four years.  I can't use it for other than personal projects but I'm retired, it's all personal.

I rather enjoy modeling analog computer type problems and watching them run.  I can plunk down integrators and summers all over the place and just wire them up.  Simulink is a great tool!

I have several add-ons in addition to MATLAB itself so my annual subscription is still a couple of hundred dollars. I am not obligated to keep a subscription but it does keep me current.  Great tools!
