Interesting wee unit offering a portable RAID system using 4off 2.5" HDD's. I quite like it.......and quite useful for the on-the-go video blogger............

I'm a long time Drobo products' user (although not Mini) and like the idea and the product. One remark though: it's not RAID in the traditional sense. They call it BeyondRAID and it abstracts away all of the data architecture details from the end user. That's their philosophy and it's not necessarily a bad thing (I, for one, don't mind it at all), just don't expect to be able to choose between particular RAID levels (-0, -1, -5), etc. In fact, don't expect to be able to choose anything at all, other than single- or double-disk redundancy. Judging from their official forum I frequent, many people make the false assumption that's just another RAID box without doing any prior research and then complain they're not able to do this or that. Worth mentioning, especially on a forum for "techies".
