DSE T2000 T2200 Soldering stations.

Like many Aussies i use a DSE T2000, it has served me well for many years. Does anyone know if this model is a rebadge of another make?
It has been suggested it is some form of Weller? Can anyone confirm this?
I am looking for spare tips for my T2000.

I have a DSE T2250 and AOYUE968 and they both use the same tips, they're a common type but i dont know what the type is called, sorry.

I have a T-2200, I agree that they are quite nice irons, I did have a faulty thermocouple in mine at one stage, but managed to get a replacement element assembly. I share your dilemma regarding the tips, I have been half tempted to get some copper rod and turn up some replacements, I would need to figure out a way of plating them though.

The three tips I have here measure 5.1-5.2mm diameter x 28mm long shank, with a 6.7-6.9mm dia x 4mm long shoulder. There is probably a tip from another brand of soldering iron that would fit, if you can find it.

I have got a rough circuit traced out for these irons somewhere. I could probably upload it if anyone needs to do some repairs.

Just remembered that I bought some tips at jaycar that fit my DSE T2250 and AOYUE968 it wasn't labeled for those irons though, from memory it was for a goot iron

They had a 3 sizes i think.


Does anyone know if the T2250 uses the same tips as the T2200 ?

Thanks for the info, i have looked at the t2250 but didnt think much of it at the time. Now it is going so cheep i might see if i can get it past the household finance controller(Wife).....

Altronics sell pretty much the same irons- and definately the same tips. 0.8mm Chisel tips are stock code T2323.

Incidentally- Love my T2200

Yeah i have to say i do like my T2000, its getting a bit old now but it has served me well for over 10 years now.

Hmm, if the Aoyue tips fit then it sounds like they're using the same tips as the Hakko 936 (medium).

Late reply but for those Dick Smith Electronics (DSE T2000 or T2200) soldering iron fans, these tips are "rare as hens teeth"...
It is however rebranded and the following US compay seems to have a wide variety of those, tips included. Even on ebay...

I suggest to search for Xytronic T2000 instead

I dunno about the T2000 or T2200 but Hakko 900M tips fit my DSE T2250 perfectly fine.

Also the hakko fx-888 nipple fits my TT2250 iron as well.

It's the only part on my T2250 that broke, although the set/read switch is a bit worn out and sometimes needs a wiggle.

Psi, I recon your T2250 must be using a different tip. The T2000 and T2200 are using the same tips that look like the picture insert.
They should have a raised shoulder in the mid-section, where yours is flush along the length of the tip...
I can see why the T2250 is simular to the Hakko 900M, but not sure if it will work for the T2000/T2200 as the tip holder won't be able to lock down "shoulder-less" tips I think.

According to this site, the T2250 is branded the Xytronic 169D OR is it 137ESD?
I might be that the pencil part of the iron is different to the DSE one... open for discussion

I can confirm that the DSE T2000 (and others) was made by Xytronics in Taiwan.

Personally, I need new tips and a new element would be nice too. The info I was looking at is all in Chinese but since  I don't speak (or read) Chinese then it becomes very difficult to communicate with them.

I suspect that Xytronics in the US is/was just their US agent and I think that we could get the product direct from Taiwan without the horrendous US freight charges.

The Dick Smith soldering stations were difinately made by Xytronics of Taiwan because their name is on the printed circuit board.  So I guess this mystery is resolved.

I dont care what anyone says, I still use my Weller T2200 in 2020 

It has great solid parts and 5 trim pots to adjust everything... not like these newer soldering stations.

I have tweaked mine to around 100w 

Only wish I could find a hook nose tip for it, when I'm soldering under the camera microscope.
