Ebay Seller "Sorry out of stock!"
« on: July 29, 2013, 09:07:52 am »
WTF?! :wtf: There's no reason for this, don't sell shit on Ebay if you don't have it! And according to the auction, the sale was from the US, but reading the e-mail you wouldn't think so.  Should I accept the refund and leave bad feedback or what?

Any business can run out of stock. It's unlikely that the seller's stock control system (if it exists), automatically updates eBay.
Is the item still advertised? If so, complain to eBay - after you get your refund.

Wow, that seller has a pile of atrocious, recent negative feedback. I'd lodge a complaint with eBay immediately.

How much was your winning bid?

In any case, this looks like a dodgy seller. You should definitely file a complain to eBay.

Yup. They relisted the 9.99 buy it now items after I paid for mine.

Funny that about 1 out of 5 of those is negative but says something like excellent transaction.

Complain how?  eBay only accepts complaints in specific categories... which one would this fall under?

People who mean to leave positive feedback sometimes accidentally check the "negative" box! I've had that happened to my account before, and it happened to a friend recently as well, very annoying for honest sellers! These guys probably have so many feedbacks and transactions they don't bother working with the buyers to fix these erroneous ratings anymore.

Wow, some people are critical   :o

What did the seller do wrong here? They ran out of stock (could happen to any store), they told you promptly and they offered a full refund.

For comparison, they could have said nothing and left you waiting for new stock to arrive.

Yup.

Dear god, accept the refund and leave good feedback, they let you know of the problem promptly and politely as they should. You can get your crappy $10 probes another day...

No they couldn't.  eBay requires the item to be shipped in a certain time period.  Of course, there are sellers who mark the item as shipped before they actually do.

The question is why the seller didn't set their available quantity to the quantity they had on hand.  My guess is that they didn't want to pay the listing fee again when they got the item back in stock.  Or maybe it has to do with search results placement.

Ebay also requires sellers to have the item in stock before listing it.  I know many sellers "drop ship" or order an item after it's paid for so they don't have to use their own money, but it's against E-bay's published policy.

Eh, who cares what the "policy" is, eBay likes to fuck sellers anyway. I can forgive them for not playing along. I don't see where they've gone wrong. They ran out, didn't immediately sprint to the computer to update the listings, and happened to get an order in the meantime. Shit happens.

A random refund from a seller that ran out of an item is nothing compared to the crap sellers deal with. I've only sold a handful of items on ebay and to be honest I don't see why sellers keep doing it. From what I've seen, at least 20% of the buyers of electronics goods (computer parts, etc) are trying to rip off the sellers.

I asked a question to seller on the 100mhz probes that he's still selling as to why he was still selling them if he's out of stock and he replied they were different than the ones I ordered. I find it odd because the auction name is the same and the pictures are the same. And why didn't he offer those to me?

Yes, very strange. That was why I asked how much you paid. I thought you paid a lower price than what he was willing to sell them for.

It might sound crazy, but occasionally Chinese people do in fact live in the USA, work in the USA, and on rare occasion - they might even ship from the USA.

Many EBay sellers accept only PayPal.  PayPal fees are refunded but the payment instrument fees are not.  I don't know of a single seller willing to refund $12.00 when they received $9.99.  And I have never seen a CC or bank refund their fees or let you buy at the sell rate when converting.  Seem CC rules are suppose to be international, I doubt this process is different for a anyone else.

I think you are mistaken.  I have gotten a number of refunds from Chinese sellers, and I have never once received less than I paid in the first place.

Good to hear.  I have always been ripped of exchange for USA sellers.  I have never needed a refund from China resellers.  One more reason to by from China.  :)

I just realized these probes I tried to get were the exact ones that Dave showed in his $50 scope video.

"10 bucks! No problems whatsoever!"  :-DD

I did a $10 make offer on some $13 probes. I'll see what happens.

Well I'm in Texas and the probes were supposedly in New Jersey. So still closer than China.  Usually I see at least 2 to 3 weeks if I order something from a Chinese retailer via AliExpress.

I ordered LEDs from China and USA at the same time.
The package from China cane over a week sooner than the USA package.

I think the entire reason of the difference was the USA seller couldn't figure out how to fill out the declaration properly.
Too many times the declaration says something stupid so customs opens the package, which takes time.
Every package from China had a properly filled out declaration and only one got opened.

Ie China "Lighting (LED)".  USA "High Flux Emitter".
China "Electronic Wire-board". USA "PCB Material"
The list goes on and on ... It's almost like it is a nation wide practical joke.

The only time a package from China was a hassle was when it was marked as "PCB Prototyping System".

Do not put the word PCB on a package people!.  PCBs (the chemical) are internationally banned in North America.

Well seeing as you don't have a country marked in your profile I can't really say how shipping goes.

Next time I'll just say Polychlorinatedbiphenyl compounds. That'll get rid of any confusions.

If you do not leave negative feed back and file a complaint the seller will keep on doing this...
Collect interest on your money in his bank account until he is forced to issue a refund....

Happened to me more than once...

Right now it won't let me leave negative or neutral feedback because he's a "power seller". HOWEVER... He has raised his price to 40 each so I think he is out of stock now and doesn't want people bidding.
