EEVblog "quality stamp" on eBay :)
« on: February 29, 2012, 08:23:43 pm »
Hi all..

I was looking for a cheap multimeter on eBay, and searched for the Extech 330 that Dave have tested in the Multimeter shootout on his youtube channel.. :)

Then i fell over this "quality stamp" on an auction..  :D

So now Dave is a quality stamp..  :)

I've also been looking at the Fluke 17B, what do you guys think of that meter, just for basic arduino/electronics messuring ? Is it precise enough?

You will have many more than one meter, so it isn't that critical.  I went with the BK Precision BK2709B, as some of the extra features were more needed than waterproofness, etc.  Any quality $50+ meter is going to be accurate enough for what most people will do.

I have found the frequency counter on my BK to be handy at times when that is quick to probe, rather than hooking it up to my Rigol for just a count.

They should qualify that as being the winner of the $50 multimeter shootout. But then people might balk at the seller's $64 price tag.

Sure i will have more that one meter, but for a start I think i will go with the 17B, since i'm used to using flukes from earlier jobs, and i just like the quality, look and feel of that brand.

Next on my wishlist is a soldering station and a uSupply(power supply build) from Dave  ;) and later on, a decent scope, freq.gen...

I'm studying IT-Technology in electronics in Denmark (sorry for the bad language  :-\)
I'm currently learning on following MCU's: PSoC by Cypress Semicon, Atmega328(Arduino) and Ti MSP430..

I was wondering if there is a schematic for Dave's uSupply somewhere on the eevblog site ? also maby the C code for the Atmega.. ?

I don't know if he has finalized the rebuild to SMD.

EEVblog notoriety is quite impressive. It proves that you don't need a few million views on youtube to make a dent. Then again great technical reviews and teardowns on multimeters are rare or nonexistent till now.

You may look for a vintage Fluke 25 or Fluke 27FM for that price. I got my 27FM from eBay U.S. Usually they're good as new
