EEVblog add-on for xbmc
« on: July 17, 2013, 08:41:35 am »
I've noticed that there is actualy EEVblog add-on for xbmc. So I was just wondering, who made this add-on? Someone from this forum? I haven't heard Dave mention it. Maybe he even don't know that it exists.

By the way, xbmc is a media centre/player, and a bloody good one. In fact, it is the only player what allows me to play 1080p videos smoothly on my computer built around single core AMD Athlon 64 2800+ @ 2,3 GHz. It takes full advantage of the hardware acceleration of the GPU (H.264 decoding) of my low end NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT 1GB. None of the other players are capable of playing 1080p on my machine. I recommend xbmc to everyone. It is free and open source.

XBMC is awesome. Also very powerful on a Raspberry Pi, for where a full on media PC isn't justified or is too expensive.

I haven't been able to get the EEVBlog addon to work myself, though. :/

I haven't actually installed that add-on myself either. Since I watch EEVblog videos on my laptop and only movies on desktop computer (where XBMC is installed).

I'm aware of it, but have never tried it. Can't remember who wrote it.

I didn't know it existed either!  I just loaded it on XBMC 12, it lists all the videos however when you select them nothing plays.

Too bad, probably an easy fix, apparently written by Clumsy.

I was using that plugin (and I still have installed on my XBMC), but as it anyway uses the Youtube plugin to access the videos, since a long time I use directly the YT plugin.
All that it requires from me is to subscribe to Dave's YT channel.

I've been using the EEVblog plugin in XBMC for several months.  It's broken a couple of times but always get fixed within a day or two so someone is keeping an eye on it I guess.  It's how I discovered EEVblog (yay!).  The plugin repo lists the author name as "Clumsy".  It's currently at version 0.2.3.   I found the repo for it on Github: https://github.com/ClumsyXBMC/EEVBlog-Xbmc-Plugin  -- Looking at the source it appears to compile the video listing by scraping http://www.eevblog.com/episodes/

Hey guys,

having written the plugin and being the guy who maintains it, you can report bugs at the github page https://github.com/ClumsyXBMC/EEVBlog-Xbmc-Plugin or shoot me a mail at myusername ÄT xbmc.org if you wish. I use the plugin myself, so I normally catch breakage myself - but I only use linux, so there might be problems on other OS'es I don't know about.

Oh, and please do check out the main webpage from time to time. I can't add any advertisement or similar in XBMC (and don't want to really), so I can only point guys to the main webpage to get Dave some ad money. Seeing as it actually did get some users to notice the webpage, I guess it worked ;)
