Our media computer and big screen TV are in our living room near the woodstove. When I’m doing ripping and transcoding, I use the keyboard in my lap. But will sometimes set it on the woodstove if I’m interrupted. The woodstove is usually not in action at night. When I finish with the computer, I put the keyboard in an adjacent room … until last night.
Yup, lit the already-laid-in fire this morning without noticing the keyboard. Before long, I was smelling eau-de-ABS. See the pics. Removed what I could get off quickly. Fortunately, we have a whole house fan; so opened windows and switched it on. A bit chilly though. Smoke alarms and CO alarms found it exciting for a while. Scraped the remaining melted ABS off the stove with a putty knife.
Think the warranty will cover it?
New rule: put nothing on the woodstove … ever.
