Ever created something you had completely forgotten about?
« on: October 15, 2014, 11:33:20 am »
I had forgotten that I created and edited the first Geocaching community magazine in Australia

Just stumbled across it again!  :o

On at least one occasion I've written complete code from scratch and then realised I'd done the exact same thing (which could have been used as-is) a couple of years before...
Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.

Ha - I've even searched online for some chunk of code to do X. Then discover that I wrote that and posted it years ago, without ever having remembered until I see my own name in the source. At least I hadn't started to insult the author of the code yet in my mind...

I have several times come across a post on some forum, and thought "what a moron wrote this?", and then looked up the header, and it was me 5-10-15 years ago.  :palm:

I remember when they dropped selective availability.  Geocaching was query web, hook GPS to serial cable or manually enter waypoint, plan hike, find, note caches, come home, log on computer.

We were hiking a couple weeks ago in a new park and wondered if there were caches.  Downloaded the app on my Android while walking, found 3, logged them at the cache.  Man, times have changed.   ;D

I've done the same thing, and the really interesting point was the two versions were almost identical.

Welcome aboard EEVblog

Thanks! Nice to see some familiar usernames from AVRFreaks, although it's been years since I've been active there! Now it's mostly just searching... and finding my old posts/code like above ;-)
