Ever get this nasty feeling?
« on: May 30, 2012, 08:59:59 am »

I just noticed that I can't find my 50+ set of special srcewdriver bits (secure torx, triwing etc) anywhere I'd expect it to be. This is not a huge apartment and I ought to know where it should be (no pets or kids)... What makes the nasty feeling is that I'm 100% sure that I'll find those within a Week if I do go and purchase new set ...

Ok, it's less than 10€, but I don't like having unnecessary duplicates of things I don' t need on weekly basis.

you wouldnt believe me if i say my new lab is haunted. the ghost always tried to conseal something from me (always the most recent thing i'm looking for), but only one thing at a time, thats good since i usually have duplicates.

Many years ago I lost a pair of Lindstrom 20 gauge piano wire side cutters, I was working inside an old radiogram I put the cutters on top and got down to look inside when I reached up for the cutters they were not there, I looked every where for the cutters and as I was the only person in the building at the time I cannot explain as to what happened to the cutters. I have never found another set as good as these were they would cut through cycle brake cable without being marked.

I've learned if things start do magically disappear it's time to have a proper clean up. Not just routinely dusting & hoovering, I mean the works - dragging long forgotten things out of dark corners and so on ;).
I have a good set of Wiha screwdrivers that should live next to my workplace but one by one over time they disappear. While cleaning up they magically reappear out of nowhere, well not out of nowhere, out of boxes, unfinished projects and sometimes even shoes. Works every time.

Yeah, I'm a messy guy :D

No need.  :P    I found em from this desk I'm next right now.. About 40cm left of the keyboard, somehow buried under some not so important papers. Not that those bits should have been on *this* desk anyhow, but for some reason here they were.

I know this feeling all too well. I am currently missing my best pair of scissors. I suspect it to beunder my couch, but since my room is a total mess at the moment I don't expect to find them soon. :S

Mine:

"Caaaaaat, where is my probe again? Pulled it off the table again?"
The difficult we do today; the impossible takes a little longer.

Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action.

You too?

Fortunately, I'm able to dedicate a room to the lab so I can close the door. But I have to make sure they don't slip in with me when I go in, or they will try and wreck the place in short order.

There IS however a separate dimension where the tops of ball point pens go to.
In this dimension they lead long happy productive lives before returning some time later to our own world.
It has been suggested that it may in some way be related to the interstitial spaces in the quantum particle sea that swallows odd socks.

When the cockroaches start to take your tools away you should consider to take some countermeasures.
