They seem particularly happy about a reduced use of adhesives. I found the use of rotary joints an interesting alternative to cable bends. Is it actually more repairable? If those contacts fail I think you will be up shit creek vs resoldering a wire. So the fix will be to ditch the electromechanical system and route wires for a direct connection when it breaks. I remember I had a old sony wireless pair that suffered from a broken weird hinge, and it made throw it out because you just could not glue that part together or fix it in a reasonable way, even if it had wires (like a laptop hinge). Not to mention regular maintenance will be to grease a weird contact ??? Kind of expected it to have a little grease port and sell with a iGreaser ?? So you replace a nice reliable wire with a swiss watch and call it repairable??? I am kinda depressed because headphones and earbuds were one of the things you can actually fix in a college dorm room with just a cigarette lighter by burning magnet wire and twisting it together. Enough to get by for a while. I bet you could solder by holding a penny in a nail clipper also. Hold out for the vibes honey, let me get my 5 axis printer out from under my bed. Then again the person that can afford that probobly pages the ethics professor at 2am to lend you his pair. |
