Facebook, and their livestream VERY obvious, VERY fake "error" messages
(1/1)
eti:
I do a little disco for my friends and family who are lonely or who can't get out, on FaceBook Live, on a Friday and/or Saturday night. What is HILARIOUS to me, is this:
I have Spotify playlists playing, and I know I do. During the stream, often 1 min or less into it, I get an error saying "Your video has been blocked" etc (they mute the parts with the copyrighted music.). Not one MINUTE will pass, and I'll get an automated notification saying "UMG released their claim on your video" etc... blah blah... yeah... basically they UN-muted the video, and I am okay with them, as their bot/algo can see it's just me in my kitchen.
What is REALLY irritating is the contempt with which FB treat you, and the idiots they must think that we are, when the following happens:
~ You've started a live stream, had a warning and then stopped it
~ You've then started a NEW live stream (sometimes I do it 8-20x)
After an unknown, arbitrary number of these supposed "Infractions", FaceBook start playing their little mind games, and it ALWAYS follows a set pattern (seriously, they must think all their users are THICK!):
# You will start a stream, and you'll get a veryu nebulous "Ooops, there was an error, livestream couldn't be started" and the stream ends in a few secs.
# You will then do the same again, and get a "poor signal... reconnecting... reconnecting... OOPS! We couldn't connect you!" popup
# Any random variation of the above *VERY CLEARLY BULLSHIT MESSAGES*
## It's OBVIOUSLY LYING, and they hope you will get fed up enough that you'll stop trying and give up. I do, but I know the pattern of these messages, and it is ALWAYS THE SAME PATTERN.
Okay, I streamed live music - I know it - they usually release their claim on the rights (I've had many HUNDREDS of these messages over two and a half years)... but why do they treat us like MORONS, making up fake "error!" messages? (attached, a few I had just now). I am posting this here as I cannot see anything on Google pertaining to it.
Just be clear, and tell me "Look, you did a few livestreams and have exceeded the limit for copyrighted music tonight; try again tomorrow" instead of this mind game horse crap.
Funny how I ONLY EVER get a "poor wireless connection" when their fake messages appear :palm: :-DD
MrMobodies:
Is that suppose to be private between friends?
That's not very nice with their robots spying on you.
What I would do is stream stuff with something like VideoLAN and then maybe use chat/Facebook for the URL, well actually Facebook might complain about that too.
I very rarely use Facebook.

You are using a website whose founder has already publicly called you an idiot for using it. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
Such "tricks" (assuming that you aren't having real connection problems and imagining things out of paranoia) wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Web services are very much all about managing the sheep using whatever "subtle" cues the "clever" designers think might work. That's the attitude at those places.

Another reason to not use Facebook - if I ever needed one.
I quit it back in 2016-17, after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, and haven't looked back since.
