uCurrent now available in the EU
« on: July 08, 2015, 05:36:22 am »
Those in the EU (including Germany) can now order the uCurrent from SparkyLabs, run by non other than our esteemed moderator Simon.
He has stock in hand.

very nice:
 :-+

Also resonable price ...
I just was in the process of ordering to find out hat shipping to Germany is 18 Pound.

If somebody else from Germany is interested: just send me a PM. ... We could share shipping costs then. (either meet or reship)
I would like to order till tomorrow then.

Greetings
Max

p.s.
The german "translation" of the microcurrent product details is horrifying... By first reading it I thought I am on some kind of scam homepage  :-).
If a translation to Geman it realy necessary I am willing to help out there.

Woah, 18 GBP shipping for such a lightweight item? Does the signed for service add that much then?
(Just curious)

PS. The font is really hard to read!
Edit2: seems it's only on the mobile website:

Edit2: seems it's only on the mobile website:
Only on iOS, Android seems to render it okay.

That's what happens when the stylesheet specifies a preferred font of "comic sans ms" and the fallback font as "cursive". The logical choice would be to specify "sans-serif" (or nothing, and use the browser default) as the fallback, but for some reason a lot of the newbie-targetted CSS tutorials suggest using cursive.

Hi all,

Simon just informed me that he was on holliday and also provided the tracking information.

--> The items where send right after I ordered. I am quite sure that german customs or whatever is just failing since one month.

(Officially there is no customs necessary form GreatBritan to Germany. ... But I guess some people there just like to dick around .... and then leave for holliday.  |O

Greetings
Max

That's how it supposed to work, yes, and why I got Simon to distribute in the UK.
Any other German problems?
Germany is such a PITA for shipping, seriously.

The wonderful uCurrent must now be RoHS compliant for the EU, which means the solder is lead free.

Personally, I love lead. It's God's gift to mankind, unlike the Greenie tree huggers who could do us all a favour and stop imposing their environmental religious beliefs onto everyone else. Mmmm... lead... never been beaten for beautiful solder joints. I have used lead in soldering for 40 years and it hasn't affected me... :o

Seriously, one wonders how much crap made in China using lead and cadmium finds its way into Europe illegally. How may times do you see "Not RoHs compliant. Cannot ship to Europe" do you find on eBay? And how much Chinese electronics found on eBay is really RoHS or CE compliant? I have already seen fake CE marks on Chinese goods. China has a huge underground industry scavenging components from old boards full of lead and selling them on the grey market. My guess is no-one will ever check whether Heinrich's one euro MP3 player he bought on eBay has lead in it or not.

Is there a new place to buy ucurrent gold in Europe?

It seems the sites referenced here are gone: (simonselectronics and sparkylabs): http://www.eevblog.com/product/ucurrentgold/

Thanks.

As far as I know: no, there isn't.
You can get them here (currently 4 in stock):

Oh, lacking options I checked out info on the multimeter. It seems 121GW has the same low burden voltage as the ucurrent - super cool!
