| Fire at Renesas factory in Japan shuts plant for month |
| (1/1) |

Plant mostly produced chips for the auto industry. Fire started in a clean room last Friday. I wonder if it was cleaning solvent. No injuries mentioned in the reports. Loss of revenue expected to be US$156 million per month. Hmmm, there seems to be something going on, here. First AKM, then Renesas! Given the costs of these sorts of events, it would seem that these companies would work VERY hard to prevent fires and other disasters in these fabs. Jon |

Without knowing how many fire events have been prevented by existing measures, we know nothing about whether there is any negligence (never mind the nefarious reasons you hint at). Not to mention that random chance does allow for extremely rare events to happen in close proximity. |

That's all right, it's not like we have a parts shortage. Everything is fine, if your design only uses passives and 7400 series logic chips. I can see that there is also no shortage of fasteners. Maybe car makers just make everything mechanical again. And I see that they bought Dialog semiconductor. Great. I just got info that the support from Dialog for small customers will improve. So much for that now. |
