Author Topic: Firefox issue with viewing this forum (Read 6627 times)

Starting this week, every time I visit any page on this forum, the following dialog pops up twice. I click cancel each time.

It has to do with the advertiser "supplyframe.com" but not sure why this suddenly started. I don't get this effect in IE on the same machine, or FF on another (XP) machine.

Any ideas?

You can try clearing the browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+Delete) and/or installing AdBlock (you can just block the ad's domain if you want).

AdblockPlus is already installed. Cookies and cache cleared with no improvement.

Looks like you have installed some adware/spyware type of stuff. Go under the Tools->Add-ons menu and uninstall any suspicious addons or plugins.

SupplyFrame seems to be Dave's ad provider, I'm guessing it's just a transient glitch on their part.

I don't think his computer has a bug. I think his firefox is blocking part of the SupplyFrame widget and misinterpreting whats going on and trying to download one of the widgets frames, judging by the file size. Possibly his adblock is acting up..

I use firefox with no adblocker and I've never seen that happen on eevblog.

Same result with AdBlock+ on or off. Was working perfectly until last Monday. Works fine at home on an XP PC. I'll just not visit the forum from work I guess.

That changes a bit, might be employee's cache server issue. Does it happen on other computers at work?

Try rename your firefox profile (so it creates a new one) and see if the problem goes away.

You can always rename it back again.

Yeah dude i have also facing same problem that this forum is not open in the Firefox i think its browser problem and i open this forum to chorom it is easily open it..change the browser and then try it...

I use firefox and it renders ok for me.

That link is within an Iframe tag. not sure if this is the issue.
Try this link in firefox by itself.

the other thing you can do is reset firefox.

just remember what plugins you want to re install then go help->trouble shooting information.

there is a button here that says reset. It could help.

Happened to me too at the same time, with Safari. I got the exact same message. Clearing cache didn't help. It was gone the next morning.

Your Firefox seems to be confused about the mimeType application/x-httpd-php. Looking through a debugger, I can't see any responses from search.supplyframe.com that contain that mimeType. So I have no explanation, but here's a shot in the dark: delete or rename the mimeTypes.rdf file in your Firefox profile. Firefox will rebuild it when re-started.

I've seen this happening once or twice. Went away after a while. My guess is that it was a intermittent issue with the ad provider.

Got the same with IE9, both at home and at work. I assumed it would go away and it did

This may not be the solution you are looking for, but is something you should run on your system from time to time to just keep it clean running and fast.

Download and run the program "HijackThis"

Start the program, select system scan. You will have a list of all the stuff that is currently being loaded and running on your system.

Mark and remove any lines that have references to either or both, FireFox and SupplyScan. Restart your system and the problem you are having will probably be gone.

If you run HijackThis and have more than about 5 or 6 items listed, you have things running that don't need to be there and are slowing down your system.

This is really a great tool that I have used for years. Take time to learn how to use HijackThis, it has lots of information about it's use, and is a safe program to run.

Well, who really knows what was causing this as today (1 week later) the issue has resolved itself with no further intervention.
