As numerous business places used to say back in the 1950s & '60s ---"Season's Greetings".
At least that is nicer sentiment than the happy holidays bs that we seem to have universally adopted.
'happy holidays' has become about binge spending and outdoing others. If people are that offended by the words Merry Christmas then don't spend, don't decorate or engage in anything to do with the day clearly want to avoid. It diminishes the day to no more than just another Hallmark Holiday and an excuse to overindulge.
The day should be about family and friends getting together and remembering those present or not, sharing some time and giving a memento to others that means something if you need to and not the most expensive or glossy Zboxwhizzer. For those that want to add brand X religion to it by all means but don't force yours on me that is my choice to make.
I am still very comfortable using the phrase I grew up with in a non Christian school and household
"Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year" and I wish it to all of you.
this potted $0.02 thought is just to maybe help others reflect, I am going back to my cave now for another coffee.
