Greetings EEVBees:
--Attention Fluke 87 V owners; Please be careful when cleaning your LCD display, particularly the retainer clip. I some black stuff on it, which I now belatedly realize was the cheap ass ink itself. See the attached picture. I was installing a new fuse in my latest Fluke acquisition, when I decided to clean the display before closing up, with some IPA, which I have never before, repeat, never had any problem with in cleaning any electrical test gear.
--It has been speculated that since Fluke has been acquired by Danaher Corp., that Danaher would exploit the reputation while cheapening the product. That remains to be seen, but this latest problem does not make things look good. It looks as though they used Ink Jet printing technology instead of paint. I will be contacting the Fluke Suits again. Fat lot of good that will do me. I will probably get another letter from Fluke Customer Care, saying they cannot give me a replacement part for free, and resolutely refusing to acknowledge any problem with Flukes production line. I plan to ask them if all of the Retainer Clips have this problem, and not to ask for a replacement. I'll bet that they will contrive a way to ignore the question. Any bets?
--I repeat be careful when cleaning you Fluke 87 and you never know what will smear from so much as finger oil. Advice and comments are solicited.
