I have to admit - I just love a good switch or button 8)
It's amazing how much work goes into those - although elevator buttons have historically been more advanced than they might seem... I always thought those old buttons had neon lights behind them, but it turns out the neon switching is integral to it's operation...

It's always amazed me that we got to those NASA level switches without all the old engineers being killed by exposed knife switches... I can't imaging grabbing the handle of some monster 3 phase power circuit that is inches away from basically a bus bar...
