FOR the first time since i nough this ms surface it says it has to virusu.
RJSV:
Yeah, jpanhalt has it right, the text entry parts are getting in (your) way, clarity wise. I have that problem, but also the TEXT EDIT functions, like in my 'smart phone' tend to make it worse (meaning worse clarity).
Words like 'say', get put in, by the phone's text entry, partially since the 'S' was next to 'D'. But I've noticed; at least on my phone, the text entry comes back, a second later; changes my (your) entry...So the phrase
of "Back in the Day", got altered, unnoticed due to fact, that it got entered correctly, but then changed a few moments later. I've learned I have to 'police' my posts, to help avoid that particular clarity-robbing process.
(I have put out A LOT of effort, to make posts that help others learn valid stuff).
Actually, it does look like some people got the drift, of
OP questions. Using cellphone gives some measure of security-- in isolation. My taxes, bank etc. business goes on the desk-top...(but sometimes I use the PC at local library). That's more avoidance, of the security problems, than actually 'confronting' security breach issues head-on.
...Maybe could be good, for eevblog, to have a security oriented section (I haven't looked, yet).
But that's a whole specialty, in itself (distraction, in my view).

What do I do? I dont trust macafee or those boat wares that slow down worse then the virus.
Where do you start? deletion things isnt a problem solve as its nested all over....

HUh? What the hell did you say? I must not have had my contacts in. Yeah I didnt do anything and the little pop up for windows defender/mcafee(I dont have mcafee its just as bad as a virus) hasn't popped up. If I am getting the macafee thing on my windows defender pop up is that a fake pop up and the virus trying to trick me into clicking or interacting with it?
I really havent kept up with IT security the last 15 years so I have no idea.
Beamin:
I was using my phone to try and use the forum. Thats NOT fun. I get that rectangle alaert thing that comes up over the date and tray icons. One says McAfee and looks like my mcafee is alerting me to a virus. BUT I DONT HAVE MCAFEE HATE IT. Also under it a windows defender box comes up but had some weird web address in it. I would screen shot but now im online its not poping up.
Another curious thing Itunes kept popping up like I just plugged in my iphone, but I havent plugged it in in years. Keep asking for password to sign in. I lost my iphone and the only reason I still have it is to TRY to see if I can get my phone numbers and pics from my stolen phone. Thats a huge PITA because I dont know the password anymore. Heard it takes a week verizon was telling me.

I can't stand to have Norton Anti Virus installed on a PC! It's the worst program for slowing down a PC that has ever been invented!
EVERY company that SPAMS me or that tries to install any crap or runs net "analytics" goes into my hosts file and that stops a LOT of problems.

Malwarebytes is bullshitware. This ain't 1996. Go ask Steve Gibson @ GRC about that software (Twitter: @sg_grc) and he will chuckle.
Windows 10/11 sort viruses out themselves. All this extra junk is placebo.
strawberry:
I am seeing less viruses since i stop using anti virus software/bloatware
My conclusion is that they search on PC for copyright content
now operating systems are hard coded with anti malware code , so, all the money goes to microsoft/apple and less to anti malware things
More concerned about privacy. Real privacy not that Facebook trying to mimic/pretend privacy.
My conspiracy theory is that big tech may buy information about fresh ideas for new products ..
