Apart form the name, that's actually not that bad of an idea. And it is not new either. There are a number of systems that provide information and communication support on a battlefield. As far as I know, one of the most advanced battlefield information system is deployed by Israel army, and it was operational for quite some time.

Reminds me of the Star Trek TOS episode A Taste of Armageddon where they used virtual weapons to attack buildings, which would then force everybody inside there to step into a suicide booth (Something Kirk wasn't about to accept!)

But if it's anything like the real IoT it will just be hacked by anybody with an internet connection and 5 grams of skid knowledge, and used to harass major corporations, or at least when it's done updating.

I forget who I am sometimes, but then I remember that it's probably not worth remembering.

But if it's anything like the real IoT.
It is not. It is just called IoT to get some funding.

The whole idea is to have highly dynamic network of devices. Imagine you have absolute nightmare of a battlefield with tanks, ships, planes, drones, etc. And all this was pulled in the last moment, because there is some military operation going on and there is no time to plan. It would be (and is) a total communication nightmare if all of those units were to use plain old analog radios for communications.

A better system will use universal ad-hoc network, so that commanders could for example, get a real time video stream from a plane or a drone, at the same time have exact information on remaining ammo and location of all units.

The next step is to give all this information to AI and let AI do routine work, offloading people who actually understand military strategy and tactics. And may be over time AI on the command post can give direct commands to AI on all those units in the field.

There is a lot of really cool stuff can be done once you have real time access to the information.

How about we just spend resources into not trying to kill shit?

Same tech can be used for rescue operations and disaster relief. But military got the budget, so they get to play with it first.

Also, being smart on a battlefield can save lives, if we assume that war is inevitable evil.

Wars are nothing more than two small groups of people having at each other with millions of pawns. War is more stupid beyond pointless killing, it's stupid because nobody doing the actual killing really wants to do it, but I am saying things people should already know.

I see all wars as almost always preventable. There are very few times when acceptance of other cultures, and the ability to leave others alone has not been enough.

Why do people always confuse machine learning with artificial intelligence? Forget artificial intelligence this country needs to work on its real intelligence first. Speaking of which how come they havent made any arrests concerning pizza gate?
I'm legally blind so sometimes I ask obvious questions, but its because I can't see well.

What would be the difference with IoT?   :horse:

Not sure if this is a joke or not, but that's because pizza gate is full of circumstantial evidence, and a will to connect a political opponent to a child abuse ring.
