Basic electronics as explained by the US DoD on YouTube
« on: November 21, 2011, 10:32:42 am »
I came across these lectures on YouTube recently. They were filmed by the US DoD during the 1960s - 1980s to train forces radar & comms technicians. I think they are an utter constrast to Our Dave's style!

Here is the channel itself: https://www.youtube.com/user/PublicResourceOrg#g/c/7A7AA8EA70384DB7

Here are a few examples...

Waveguide plumbing http://youtu.be/owUL5sbINtc

Basic telephony http://youtu.be/oPP-tWXwOFc

Parallel RC Circuits http://youtu.be/Z9nXVxm_Egc

Just imagine a "Digger" version with Our Dave delivering such lectures in his style!!  8)

Finally I know where the speakers of the schools broadcasts and educational films of my youth did learn their trade. We had to listen to schools broadcast recordings or watch educational films whenever a teacher wasn't prepared, the topic was too difficult for the teacher, or the teacher didn't dare to prepare his own material.

The later was e.g. the case for sex education. Imagine getting a lecture about the facts of life in the style of this DoD videos. After that you are halfway ready to become a monk :-)

Clicked the Basic Telephony link and immediately though I was watching Looney Tunes, but then realized it said "US Army"  :-\

Gotta love these BS retention videos. At 1:30

"Since most of my work is classified and I won't be able to share many details with you..."

What really should have followed is:

"...because if you really knew what my job was all about and what I have to put up with on a daily basis for meager pay, you'd instantly drop the uniform for a job in the civilian sector. This F-117 behind me is pretty cool, huh? It's all for show and I haven't done a single thing to advance its mission effectiveness because civilian contractors do all the real engineering."

^ LOL ^

Those F-117 are WAY bigger than what I though they were. Now back to the video.
