Amazon now delivers on Sunday's?
« on: September 27, 2015, 06:35:40 pm »
So I ran out of printer toner yesterday (Saturday). Naturally, went to Amazon.com to buy a couple of new ones. I have had some bad experiences with Ebay toners and since their is no review system on Ebay similar to Amazon's I placed my order on Amazon. As I was sitting and checking the EEvblog forum this morning I see someone plunking down a box by the front door outside my office. Lo and behold, it is my printer toners, delivered on a Sunday, less than 24 hours after ordered!

I think this was shipped out of Amazon's new distribution center here in Irvine, CA, USA or else would not have been this quick. Pretty cool though.
Pocket-Sized USB 2.0 LS/FS/HS Protocol Analyzer Model 1480A with OTG decoding.
Pocket-sized PCI Express 1.1 Protocol Analyzer Model 2500A. 2.5 Gbps with x1, x2 and x4 lane widths.

On the other hand, you pay now $8% more as sales tax because they have an operation in your state.

Nothing is free ;-)

I'd have thought that would make sense with most carriers. I would argue that a large portion of residential customers are not able to accept deliveries requiring signatures etc... on a weekday when they are at work and no one else is home. I'd be happy if Australia Post followed suit and delivered my parcels on a weekend when I can actually accept them, rather than having to make a separate trip to the post office or depot at some ungodly hour of the morning (or attempting to rush home before they close at 5:00pm).

Surely it would be a cost-saving exercise for the carriers too; not having to drive around knocking on door after door of vacant homes.

Not here in Germany they don't. The entire bloody country shuts down for one day a week  |O

I like it that way. Time for almost anyone to calm down, come to a rest, spend some time with their loved ones, etc.. Even for the courier drivers...  :-+

Yep, and Saturday counts as a day too.  I bought a movie on Thu night, it shipped out Fri morning, and was delivered on Sun via free Prime 2nd day air.  In the past I've bought things on Sat morning and had them delivered Monday, again via free Prime 2nd day.

In the 1980s in Texas where I live, you could not purchase certain things on Sunday if they were considered to be work related.
When my parents moved here, they arrived on a Sunday and attempted to buy a bowl for our dog and the store refused because the dog food bowl was not an authorized Sunday purchase item.
So they had to put the dog food on the floor and wait till the next day to buy the bowl.

Could you not just use a regular people bowl and wash it afterwards?

I agree whole-heartedly with this. If Australia Post did this, I would definitely buy more things delivered by them.  ;D

I believe the truck with all our belongings hadn't arrived yet.
