Fume extraction
« on: June 08, 2020, 08:05:40 am »
Hi All,

After I watched the EEVblog extractor review I ordered some of the Aliexpress Loc-Line and a fan from Digikey that had good Static Pressure (1.30” of Water), has anyone done this and built an extractor that puts fumes out a window:

 - Some form of sturdy desk clamp for the base of the Loc-Line
 - Something like a vacuum cleaner hose to get the rest of the way to the window
 - An enclosure for the fan, Loc-Line in one side, hose on the other

Or maybe it goes Loc-Line, hose and the fan enclosure is mounted in the window or vent?

Thanks.
Richard

3" duct (very cheap) matches up almost perfectly to an 80mm server fan. Put the fan on the remote end so you can run it really fast without noise becoming excessive. The actual connection can be made with duct tape or a 3D printed adapter.
