Title: Funny looking resistors from RS
Post by: SingedFingers on December 15, 2016, 04:26:54 pm
RS = Radio Spares, not Radio Shack for reference.

Thought I'd sign up to share this with the forum. Placed an order for some bog standard 600mW MF resistors and look what turned up:

50x rather nice Wurth varistors, neatly counted out and labelled as resistors. That's a £1.34 ex order that shipped £34.00 of parts.

Someone is going to get shot in the stock control department!  :palm:

And I'm off to solder some 390k's to some 3M9's for this prototype...

Heh... well it's not like a few varistors cost RS £34, so I doubt they care too much  ;D

Funny all the same.

A +1 for RS customer service. Stock location checked by someone who knows what a resistor looks like and replacements shipped with no charge.  :-+

Could be a new form factor for a resistor.   ;)

The flat disc shape would help with heat dissipation.

The stock number on their website, shows 4M3 resistors!

I've had a similar problem with Farnell. I ordered a UK power extension lead but received a German one. I returned the item and they resent exactly the same thing again! In the end I ordered it from RS Components and got the correct product.

4M3 resistors were what I was expecting to be in the bag. I don't know how they managed to screw that up to that level. Takes some serious skill there.

Don't get me started on Farnell. So much pain there in the last couple of years. They've completely gone down the toilet.

I really miss 1980s Maplin at the moment. Sure you got shafted on the price buy you could get what you needed on the same day without having to deal with the chuckle brothers at a random point in the process.
