Future Electronics has gone South
(1/1)
Bud:
Future Electronics, a Canadian national distributor of electronic parts, was sold to a company in Taiwan.
FE was not a match to DigiKey but had very good deals over them on some parts.
Would be a shame to lose them.

coppice:
I didn't know Future operated like DigiKey. My experience with them is as a competitor to Arrow and Avnet in the Asian market. Why would you expect to lose them now WT has bought them? Its true that WT is currently focussed on Asia, but there is no obvious reason they should make Future an Asia exclusive business going forwards.
thm_w:
Their warehouse is in USA anyway.
Although $8 shipping to canada is not bad. I don't know when that changed, haven't used in ages.
peter-h:
Future is a reasonable disti here in the UK.
Much cheaper than say Digikey or Mouser - probably half. But that's normal for a manufacturing disti versus a hobbyist / low volume disti like Digikey or Mouser or RS or Farnell.
Future staff know nothing about components so you can't ask for a 100k 1% 0805 resistor, but that's normal nowadays. I buy from Anglia if I want to talk to a human :)
