Title: G Skill RGB RAM

Total bling but it actually does look pretty cool.

Certainly one of the better implementations of the RGB in everything trend.

But i can see why they have motherboard compatibility issues with controlling the patterns. I would guess that the way they communicate with it is trough the I2C interface that is used by the BIOS to read a ID chip on the ram stick to determine what it is and how to run it. The way this I2C bus works is different across various motherboards since its only the BIOS that actually uses it and passes the information about the ram sticks on from there. So the software does need to know how to correctly use the I2C interface on the ram slots on that particular board.

Tho i don't see why strapping LEDs to it would have anything to do with signal integrity.

The early model of lighted RAM stick, Apacer Lightning, uses an under-driven CCFL to generate flickering lightning effect. I guess that's where the lighted RAMs have worse signal integrity myth originates.
Also keep in mind that Linus is not an engineer. His video has quite some flaws, even some of his TeckQuickie ones.

Ah yeah that is a different matter. All that high frequency high voltage could certainly mess things up.

Yeah i did notice flaws in a lot of there videos, tho they do a quite good job of simplifying complicated tech down to what an average person would understand. I still like there videos for the expensive computer hardware and doing crazy things with it. There is not a lot of overlap between PC enthusiasts/gamers with engineers anyway. Most PC enthusiasts will give you weird looks if you measure the cooling performance of your CPU heatsink by subtracting away the ambient air temperature from the CPU temperature due to some saying ambient temperature doesn't matter while others that you can't just subtract it away. Then perhaps flowing up with more thermodynamics absurdity by saying that they put better cooling in there PC so that it wouldn't heat up there room as much in the summer because all the parts will run colder.

Totally agree about Linus, he is not an engineer,  but then he never professed to be one.

What I do find uneasy about him is his lack of attention to technical detail and the way he treats his coworkers when things go wrong evident in live streams. He is clearly very much dependent on the work of others to provide content. Not much content is his and his alone.

I much prefer the style of Luke Lafreniere who's also on his channel and who is far less arrogant, and frankly if I had them head to head for a job it'd be a no brainer.

But to be fair Linus is a very successful youtuber in his own right, making ten minute vids to keep the attention of millenials is hard work, but they will innevitably lack depth (about 1/4 of that ten minutes is at
advertising). The Techquickies are even worse, they're so shallow that they are almost always a disappointment.

I'm not sure I understand his business plan, there always seem to be an extraordinary number of mouths to feed, but something must be working!

Linus seems flippant but it's just the way he is and the bond he has with his staff is far better than 99% will ever experience in their lifetimes. There is some friendly banter and he gets as good as he gives.

His new petabyte storage solution speaks to how much companies kiss his ass, which brings the embedded sponsorships and fanboys who will subscribe to his video platform and spend thousands through his Amazon links (he's done videos showing the spreadsheet), which is something around 5%.

Ever since he met Louis he seems to have learned (or become less ignorant) about underlying technology.

I guess it could keep the dust bunnies in my never opened, no window computer entertained...
