Genius counterfeit computer!
« on: April 08, 2011, 02:45:07 pm »
Came across this post on a chinese forum:
http://bbs.ylmf.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1872738&extra=%26page%3D1&page=1

The OP's friend that probably worked in a repair shop sent him the following:

-A guy brought it in claiming it's broke.
-After finding that it was extremely sluggish despite the sticker on the back saying it was a Lenovo with E8400 and 2GB ram.
-They open it up to find that it's actually a P3 celeron 1.3GHz with 128MB...
-And since there was also supposed to be a GF9600GT gfx card guess how they faked that!

At least that case was new, no pics were posted but it also POST's with a Lenovo logo so that part is right.

Either the person who bought it doesn't know how to use a computer or they hacked the OS or the BIOS so it displays the fraudulent spec's.

Yes, they're still clueless, scanning for viruses and updating the BOIS firmware would reveal any hacks and anyone who knows what they're doing would do that if they noticed shitty performance from their new PC.
