I can't help but imagine that while this is a 'neat trick' it's just that. There's no way to 'band' devices so you can't tell whether it's the detergent bottle that's running empty or the flow meter reporting the upstairs bathroom has a leak. You would need multiple antennas and Wi-Fi base stations to start doing that but at that point why not just put batteries in sensors - it would be cheaper and easier.
Not that I need my detergent bottles to message Amazon and ask for a refill.
